For over 20 years, the Peoples Bank Foundation has been dedicated to making a positive difference in the communities we serve, granting millions to nonprofit organizations in Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Since its inception in 2003, the Foundation has awarded $7.5 million in grants and scholarships.

Let us help you.

Foundation contributions are distributed across all segments of our communities to foster a lasting impact, and we continue to increase our support of local programs that help low to moderate-income individuals and families. We focus on five areas of giving and want to hear about your work and how the Foundation can aid your mission.

The deadline to submit applications for quarterly reviews are March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 1. View the Grant Qualifications and Helpful Tips sections below for assistance submitting your application.

Grant Qualifications

We only accept grant requests directly from the 501(c)(3) organization seeking the grant. We do not accept grants from freelance or third-party grant writers.

Located in the bank’s footprint of OH, WV, KY, VA, Washington, D.C. or MD, as well as Burlington, VT (North Star Leasing) and Excelsior, MN (Vantage Financial, LLC)

Approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organization

Request should not be for operating costs,
payroll, salaries or stipends

Only submit one
application annually

Helpful Tips

You will be prompted to create an organization account using a valid email address and password.

You will be required to attach the following documents to your application. These documents must already be saved on your computer before you can browse and upload them.

  • IRS 501(c)(3) Determination letter
  • One-page Project Budget (if applicable)
  • Proposal Narrative, including a statement of purpose, project objective, target population, future plans for project or organization and any other relevant information
  • Key Members and/or Board Members of the organization and project
  • Copies of any project publications or brochures (if applicable)

Areas of Giving

Community Investment and Economic Development

Peoples values the many community-focused organizations that exist to strengthen the infrastructure of our communities and families. Each year, we contribute to local parks, trails, playgrounds, community centers, historic landmarks and more.

Youth and Education

Our youth will be our tomorrow. Peoples strives to protect the potential of the next generation by continually supporting and emphasizing educational opportunities for our youth. We contribute school supplies, scholarship funds and educational materials to students. We also partner with local schools and community organizations to lead recreational, cultural and financial literacy programs.

Health and Human Services

Peoples Bank helps various local food banks and nonprofit organizations provide individuals and families with food, clothing, health care support and other life-changing resources. We also raise funds and awareness for worthy causes like medical research, anti-poverty, domestic violence prevention and more.

Arts and Culture

We believe fostering creativity and promoting the arts can help stimulate local economies and cultivate vibrant communities. We support numerous arts and cultural initiatives like art centers, museums, concerts and children’s music, art and theater programs.

Environment

Peoples Bank covers a beautiful footprint across mountains, forests and rivers. Ensuring our local communities’ future generations prosperity includes taking care of the environment we find ourselves in.
